Bell Gardens

Community in southwestern California, 13 km/8 mi east of Los Angeles, of which it is a commuter suburb; population (1990) 42,400. It has experienced rapid population growth since World War II. Car and aircraft parts and paints are manufactured.

Situated at the confluence of the Los Angeles River and the Rio Hondo Channel, it adjoins the cities of Bell (to the west) and Downey (to the southeast).
