Bellechose, Henri

    0.09 sec.

Bellechose, Henri (died 1444)

Flemish painter, active in Dijon, working for the dukes of Burgundy. The Crucifixion and Martyrdom of St Denis (Louvre, Paris) is almost certainly by him.

Bellechose was born in Brabant, and was employed by the dukes of Burgundy in succession to Jean Malouel. Malouel may have begun the Crucifixion and Martyrdom of St Denis, though the unity of style suggests it was probably the sole work of Bellechose. Another work attributed to him is the Trinity about 1420 (Louvre, Paris).
