Bellmore

Municipality in Hempstead town, southeastern New York, on the southern shore of Long Island, 40 km/25 mi southeast of Manhattan; population (1990) 16,400. Situated on East Bay, it has some light industry and businesses serving recreational boaters and fishermen, but is primarily residential.
