Belloc Lowndes, Marie Adelaide (1868–1947)

English novelist, the sister of Hilaire Belloc. She established her reputation as a teller of stories combining exciting incident with psychological interest; among them are Barbara Rebell (1905) and The Lodger (1913).

She also wrote three volumes of memoirs: I, Too, Have Lived in Arcadia (1941), Where Love and Friendship Dwelt (1943), and The Merry Wives of Westminster (1946).
