Bellows Falls

Incorporated municipality in southeastern Vermont, on the Connecticut River, part of Rockingham township; population (1990) 3,300. An important producer of paper from 1802, it has also been a railway centre; it ships dairy products and manufactures farm machines and wood products.

Built on terraces, Bellows Falls is divided into three sections: an island, centre of industry; a central commercial section; and an upper residential section.
