Belushi, John (1949–1982)

US comedian. After appearing with the Second City comedy troupe in the 1970s, he achieved national recognition in National Lampoon's Lemmings (1973). On the television show Saturday Night Live (1974–79) he portrayed uniquely manic characters. Belushi left Saturday Night Live to star in films, including The Blues Brothers (1980). He died of a drug overdose.
