Ben Cruachan

Mountain in Argyll and Bute unitary authority, Scotland, between Loch Awe and Loch Etive, about 19 km/12 mi east of Oban. It has eight peaks, the highest of which rises to 1,126 m/3,694 ft.

One of the largest hydroelectric pumped storage schemes in Europe is situated on its south flank at the Cruachan Dam near the Falls of Cruachan. Water is raised to the reservoir from Loch Awe during off-peak hours.
