Benidorm, on the Costa Blanca in Spain, was once a small fishing village. It is now a resort town with a seafront of high-rise apartment buildings and hotels.

Fishing port and tourist resort on the Mediterranean Costa Blanca, in Alicante province, eastern Spain; population (1991) 74,900. Large numbers of elderly people from northern Europe spend time here in the winter.
