Benetton

Anglo-Italian Formula 1 motor-racing team established in 1986 when the Italian clothing manufacturers Benetton took over the Toleman team. Based in Oxfordshire, England, Benetton achieved its greatest success to date in the mid-1990s when Michael Schumacher drove for the team. He won the World Drivers' Championship two years in a row (1994–95) and helped to win the 1995 Constructors' title. Other notable Benetton drivers include Gerhard Berger of Austria and Nelson Piquet of Brazil. In March 2000, the French car manufacturer Renault bought the Benetton racing team for £75 million. From 2002 the team has raced in Renault colours.
