Beningbrough Hall

Early 18th-century house northwest of York, northern England, with estate of 150 ha/370 acres. It was acquired in 1958 by the National Trust. The house has an oak staircase, carved friezes, and elaborate panelling.

From 1544 until 1917 Beningbrough Hall was the home of the Bourchier family. John Bourchier was among those who sentenced Charles I to death, and the silver seal which he impressed on the death warrant now belongs to the National Trust.
