Bennettite

    0.09 sec.

Bennettite

Member of an important group of fossil gymnosperm plants of the Mesozoic age. They resembled cycads or sago palms in habit and stem structure, but differed in their reproductive organs, where the ovules were borne on long stalks. A variety of star-shaped fossilized flowers has been found. Interest has often been shown in this order of plants since they are considered to be ancestral forms of modern angiosperms.
