Bentinck, Lord (William) George (Frederick Cavendish) (1802–1848)

English noble and politician. In 1846 he led opposition to repeal of the Corn Laws and helped defeat Robert Peel's government. When the Conservative Party split over Free Trade, Bentinck became leader of the protectionist faction 1846–47.

He was the third son of the 4th Duke of Portland. He became member of Parliament for King's Lynn 1828, but was best known as a racehorse owner before 1846.
