Berckheyde, Gerrit Adriaensz. (1638–1698)

Dutch painter of town views. He studied in Haarlem with his brother Job Berckheyde (1640–1693), and travelled with him in Germany. Both settled in Haarlem, of which Gerrit has left such pictures as his Central Marketplace and Town Hall (Frans Hals Museum, Haarlem).
