Berghaus, Ruth (1927-1996)

German stage director. She married Paul Dessau and directed his Verurteilung des Lukullus at the Berlin Staatsoper in 1960. She was director of the Berliner Ensemble 1971-77 and producer at the Frankfurt Opera from 1980; her productions included Berlioz's Les Troyens/The Trojans, and Wagner's Parsifal and Der Ring des Nibelungen/The Ring of the Nibelung (1982-87).
