Bernardsville

Town in north-central New Jersey, 11 km/7 mi southwest of Morristown; population (1990) 6,600. It is an affluent suburb in the New York City metropolitan area, with luxurious homes, estates, and private clubs. It also has a crushed-stone plant. The Scherman-Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary, a birdwatching mecca, is here.

Bernardsville was settled in the early 18th century and was known as Vealtown until 1840.
