Bernoulli's principle

Law stating that the pressure of a fluid varies inversely with speed, an increase in speed producing a decrease in pressure (such as a drop in hydraulic pressure as the fluid speeds up flowing through a constriction in a pipe) and vice versa. The principle also explains the pressure differences on each surface of an aerofoil, which gives lift to the wing of an aircraft. The principle is named after Swiss mathematician and physicist Daniel Bernoulli.

The narrowing of the nostrils results in greater air velocity during inspiration, which magnifies the Bernoulli effect and makes the lateral nasal wall more prone to collapse.
The PBS video Flight (part of the series from Bill Nye the Science Guy, available from Disney Educational Productions) is used to show the different forces of flight (lift, thrust, drag, gravity, the Bernoulli effect, differences in air pressure, etc.
The Bernoulli effect says it is this spin which creates the low-pressure force that turns the ball to the left ( round the defensive wall.
