Berrios Martínez, Rubén (1930–1993)

Puerto Rican politician and public official. An accomplished orator, he was the head of the Puerto Rican Independence Party 1970–93, and a member of the Puerto Rican Senate 1972–73. In 1971 he was jailed for three months for a sit-in on the island of Culebra protesting against the US military presence there.
