District of the Netherlands, situated between the rivers Waal and Rhine, in the province of Gelderland. It is very fertile and contains many orchards.

For the port of Rotterdam, one of the busiest in the EU, the Dutch government has developed the Betuwe Corridor, a 160-kilometer (99-mile) rail connection from the port of Rotterdam to the German national railway system.
