Bevin, Elway

Bevin, Elway (c. 1554–1638)

English organist and composer of Welsh descent. He was possibly a pupil of Tallis and held positions as vicar-choral at Wells Cathedral 1575–84 and organist at Bristol Cathedral. He wrote a Briefe and Short Instruction in the Art of Musicke (1631), and composed services, anthems and other church music, keyboard pieces, etc.
