Beza, Théodore (1519-1605)French church reformer. He settled in Geneva, Switzerland, where he worked with the Protestant leader John Calvin and succeeded him as head of the reformed church there in 1564. He wrote in defence of the burning of Spanish theologian Michael Servetus (1554) and produced a Latin translation of the New Testament. |
