Opera by Rossini (libretto by F Romani, from Manzoni's tragedy Il conte di Carmagnola), first produced at La Scala, Milan, Italy, on 26 December 1819. The story tells how Bianca loves Falliero but is told to marry Capiello. Falliero is accused of treachery by the Council but is absolved in time to marry Bianca.
