Biella

Town in Piedmont region, northwest Italy, on the River Cervo, 45 km/27 mi northwest of Novara, at the edge of the Alps; population (1993 est) 48,100. Biella has an important wool industry. There are many ancient buildings, including a 10th-century baptistry and a 15th-century cathedral.
