Biggers, Earl Derr

Biggers, Earl Derr (1884–1933)

US novelist. He created the Chinese investigator Charlie Chan in a series of detective stories, beginning with The House Without a Key (1925).

Other titles include The Chinese Parrot (1926), Behind that Curtain (1928), The Black Camel (1929), Charlie Chan Carries On (1930), and The Keeper of the Keys (1932).

Biggers's earlier mystery novel Seven Keys to Baldpate (1913) was also successful, and other novels included Love Insurance (1914), The Agony Column (1916), and Fifty Candles (1926).
