Bihar Sharif

Town of Bihar state, northeast India, 56 km/35 mi southeast of the state capital Patna; population (1991) 201,000. It is an important centre for road and rail transport, and for agricultural trading. Local industries include the mining of silica, and textile manufacturing.

Nearby are ruins of Hindu, Buddhist, and Mogul buildings.
