Billericay

Town in Essex, England, 8 km/5 mi east of Brentwood; population (2001) 23,400. In 1381 Billericay was the scene of the Peasants' Revolt. The Pilgrims (Pilgrim Fathers) assembled here in Chantry Hall before leaving for America in 1620.

The church of St Mary Magdalen has a 16th-century tower which is considered to be one of the finest examples of brick architecture in the country.
