Birch, Charles Bell (1832–1893)

English sculptor. He created the griffin on the Temple Bar memorial in Fleet Street, London 1880.

Birch was born in London and studied at the school of design, Somerset House, and afterwards in Berlin, then again in London at the Royal Academy. He was an assistant to the monumental sculptor John Henry Foley.
