Bird, Junius (Bouton) (1907–1982)

US archaeologist. Bird became the assistant to the curator of South American archaeology at the American Museum of Natural History in 1931, becoming an authority on early cultures of the Western. His important discoveries include Paleo-Indian and mammal remains in southern Chile and textile fragments at Huaca Prieta, Peru.
