Bishop, William Avery (1894–1956)

Canadian aviator. He fought on the Western Front in World War I 1914–18 as a highly successful fighter pilot, shooting down 72 enemy aircraft. He was awarded the Victoria Cross in 1917. In 1938 he became air marshal of the Canadian Air Force.
