Black September

Guerrilla splinter group of the Palestine Liberation Organization formed 1970. Operating from bases in Syria and Lebanon, it was responsible for the kidnappings at the Munich Olympics 1972 that led to the deaths of 11 Israelis, and subsequent hijack and bomb attempts. The group was named after the month in which Palestinian guerrillas were expelled from Jordan by King Hussein.
