Blacklock, Thomas (1721-1791)

Scottish poet. Some early poems published 1746 led to his education at Edinburgh, where he studied divinity. He was an early admirer and friend of the poet Robert Burns and persuaded him to abandon his plans for leaving Scotland for the West Indies.
