Blaenavon

Town in Torfaen, south Wales; population (2001) 5,800. Formerly a coal-mining town, Blaenavon has a mining museum. There are well-preserved blast furnaces and iron-workers' cottages. Nearby is the entrance to Ogof Draenen, one of Britain's largest cave systems. Although popular with cavers, it is inaccessible to tourists.
