Blaine

City in southeastern Minnesota, 26 km/16 mi north of Minneapolis; population (1990) 39,000. Largely a blue-collar residential suburb of the Twin Cities, it has experienced much recent commercial development. It is known for its velodrome and a soccer stadium.

Blaine was settled in the 1840s and was formerly a trading centre for surrounding dairy, poultry, and wheat farms.
