Blair, Emily Jane Newell (1877–1951)

US political activist and writer. Blair began her work as a suffragist in 1914. She national vice chairman of the Democratic Party in 1922, and worked to elect women to public office. A prolific writer, she was also appointed to several high-level governmental posts in the 1930s and 1940s.
