Blanqui, (Louis) Auguste (1805–1881)French revolutionary politician. He formulated the theory of the ‘dictatorship of the proletariat’, used by Karl Marx, and spent a total of 33 years in prison for insurrection. Although in prison, he was elected president of the Commune of Paris in 1871. His followers, the Blanquists, joined with the Marxists in 1881. How to thank TFD for its existence?
