Bliss, Daniel (1823-1916)

US Protestant missionary and educator. Bliss attended Andover Theological Seminary and went to Syria as a missionary in 1855. He founded the Syrian Protestant College (now American University), Beirut, Lebanon, in 1866. He was president and treasurer of the college until his retirement in 1902.
