Bloch, Henry Wollman and Richard A

    0.02 sec.

Bloch, Henry Wollman (1922– ) and Richard A (1926–2004)

US accountants. The Bloch brothers founded the tax preparation firm H & R Block in Kansas City in 1955, opening a branch in New York City the following year. By the mid 1980s the firm, with 9,000 offices in North America, prepared 10% of all US and Canadian tax returns. Richard Bloch left the company in 1982 to concentrate on his philanthropic work in cancer support and education (following his own successful battle against the disease in the late 1970s). Henry Bloch, who had endowed a school of business and public administration in 1986, announced his retirement in 2000 and assumed the title of chairman emeritus of the company.
