Blomstedt, Herbert (1927- )

US-born Swedish conductor. He studied in Stockholm and conducted the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra 1962-68, the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra 1967-77, concerts with the Dresden Staatskapelle 1975-85, and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra 1977-82. He was musical director of the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra 1985-95. He is best known for his performances of Sibelius and Nielsen.
