Bloomfield, Theodore (1923– )

US conductor. He studied with Pierre Monteux at Juilliard and made his debut with the New York Little Symphony Orchestra in 1945. He worked in Cleveland 1946–52 and was musical director of the Portland Symphony Orchestra 1955–59, and of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra 1959–63. He worked with the Hamburg Opera 1964–66, was musical director at Frankfurt-am-Main 1966–68, and chief conductor of the Berlin Symphony Orchestra 1975–82.
