Blue Mounds

Municipality in southern Wisconsin, 37 km/23 mi southwest of Madison; population (1990) 400. The two Blue Mounds, rising to 523 m/1,716 ft, are the highest points in southern Wisconsin. In the early 1830s they were a rich lead-mining area. Blue Mound State Park and Little Norway, a reconstruction of an 1850s homestead, to the east, now draw visitors.
