Blume, Judy (1938- )

US novelist. Bored with suburban life, Blume turned to writing and illustrating children's stories. After many rejections, she published Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret (1970), Blubber (1974), and Tiger Eyes (1981), and several other novels for teenagers, that broke new ground in their frank treatment of sensitive issues. Her novel for adults, Summer Sisters, was published in 1998.
