Blyth

Town in Northumberland, England; population (2001) (Blyth Valley district) 81,300; (town) 35,700. It is situated at the mouth of the River Blyth (32 km/20 mi long), where it enters the North Sea, and is 11 km/7 mi north of the River Tyne. Blyth has two power stations.

In the 19th century Blyth was a coal-shipping and shipbuilding port.

Blyth

Village in Nottinghamshire, England, 9 km/6 mi northeast of Worksop; population (2001) 2,200. The local church has an early Norman nave of a Benedictine priory (built 1088). The church was later enlarged and has a late 14th-century tower and three medieval wooden screens.
