Bodoni, Giambattista (1740–1813)

Italian printer. He managed the printing press of the duke of Parma and produced high-quality editions of the classics. He designed several typefaces, including one bearing his name, which is in use today.

About three weeks later, I received a frog in the mail--a stuffed toy, about seven inches tall, embroidered perfectly in Bodoni bold script, with these words in different colors on its tummy: "It's Allegra's water exercise for me.
Among typefaces are Goudy (body copy), Univers (captions), Oblong, Mekanik, Glypha, and Bodoni.
In the last days of the New York Herald Tribune , art director Peter Palazzo talked editors into moving from Bodoni Bold, the ever present newspaper headline face, to Caslon by lettering a four-letter word in both.
