Boesmans, Philippe (1936– )

Belgian composer. He studied with Henri Pousseur at Liège and worked with him at the electronic music studios there from 1971. His music has also been influenced by the French and Italian avant garde.

La Passion de Gilles (1983), Reigen (after Schnitzler's play; 1993).

Orchestral

Impromptu for 23 instruments (1965); symphony for piano (1966); Verticales for orchestra (1969); Intervalles for orchestra (1973); Multiples for two pianos and orchestra (1974); piano and violin concertos (1978, 1979); Conversions for orchestra (1980).

Vocal

Attitudes for soprano and ensemble (1977).

Other

Ricercar for organ (1983); realization of Monteverdi's Poppea with an array of modern instruments (1989).
