Boettcher, Wilfried (1929–1994)

German conductor and cellist. He was conductor of the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra 1967–71 and guest conductor with other leading orchestras in Europe and the USA.

After studying in Hamburg and with Pierre Fournier in Paris, France, he founded the Vienna Soloists in Austria in 1959. He was principal guest conductor of the Northern Sinfonia, Newcastle, England, from 1986. He had opera engagements in Berlin, Vienna (State Opera), and Italy.
