Boǧazköy

Village in Turkey 145 km/90 mi east of Ankara. It is on the site of Hattusas, the ancient Hittite capital established about 1640 BC. Thousands of tablets excavated here over a number of years by the German Oriental Society revealed, when their cuneiform writing was deciphered by Bedrich Hrozny (1879–1952), a great deal about the customs, religion, and history of the Hittite people.
