Bohol

Island and province of the Philippines, situated between the islands of Cebu and Leyte; area 4,118 sq km/1,590 sq mi; population (2000) 1,137,300. The capital is Tagbilaran. Bohol is mainly agricultural and is the main coconut-producing province of the Philippines. It has a large livestock industry, and woven goods and basketware are produced. Tourism is being developed.

The island has a unusual, hilly landscape known as the ‘Chocolate Hills’.
