Boismortier, Joseph Bodin de (1689–1755)| French composer. He is reputed to have written the first French concerto in 1729. He wrote three opera-ballets, Les Voyages de l'amour (1736), Don Quichote (1743), and Daphnis et Chloé (1747); eight cantatas, in two books (1724 and 1737), and over 50 instrumental works including many for musette and vielle. |
