Bomtempo, João Domingos (1775–1842)

Portuguese composer. He settled in Paris in 1802, but returned to Lisbon in 1815, founded a Philharmonic Society there in 1820, and became director of the Conservatory in 1833.

Works

Italian opera Alessandro in Efeso; Mass for the promulgation of the Portuguese Constitution (1821), Requiems for Maria I, Pedro IV, and Camões; two symphonies; four piano concertos; piano quintet; variations on a fandango and on ‘God Save the King’ for piano.
