O-Bon

Japanese Mahāyāna Buddhist festival held in July, during which families reunite to remember and honour their ancestors, welcoming them into the home. There is a fete with dancing and games, and the Buddha is offered flowers and fruit. Monks will visit home shrines to perform ceremonies and read the Buddhist scriptures.
