Bond, Julian

Bond, (Horace) Julian (1940– )

US civil-rights activist and state legislator. Bond helped to found the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) in 1960. He served in local politics until 1987 when he gave up his seat in the Georgia Senate to seek the Democratic nomination for the US House of Representatives. He lost this and turned to academia, becoming a visiting professor at Drexel, Harvard, and American universities.
